Some of our girlfriends have worked themselves into a frenzy over this Betty-White-hosting-SNL business. While we were excited, we don’t quite foam at the mouth for Betty. Dolly Parton is the Doll who really gets us going. She’s just our kinda woman. All big smile, sassy mouth, and dangerous curves–but don’t you cross her, because she’s a lady who will lasso your ass and tie you down if you can’t act right. You saw 9 to 5 didn’t you? Well if not, honey, you should!

Sometimes when it’s muggy out, Manhattan falls away and it makes us feel a bit like we’re back down South. We open the windows real wide and pull on some silky underthings. We’ll make a jar of sweet tea, prepare some cold orange slices, get our facial masks on, and we’re ready for Steel Magnolias. You will remember from Dolly Appreciation 101 that Ms. Parton shone in the role of Truvy Jones, the spitfire salon owner? While the film has a script packed full of zingers, our prize goes to the following snippet:

Truvy: Well, these thighs haven’t gone out of the house without lycra on them since I was 14.

Clairee: You were brought up right.

For best results, follow this recipe while wearing your Curvaceous Cleavage Brassiere, high heels, and a frilly apron. Panties optional.

Ingredients:

About 2 cups raw hazelnuts

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup confectioner’s sugar

1/2 teaspoon or so of vanilla

1/8 teaspoon salt or omit it if you retain a lot of water

3 tablespoons hazelnut oil, more as needed (use canola in a pinch)

Steps:

1. Add the hazelnuts to a blender or food processor and pulse until they are smooth like peanut butter. Takes about 6 minutes.

2. Add everything else to the blender or food processor and pulse until it’s the consistency you desire. Add more oil for a smoother result.

3. Use where and when needed. Wink.

Store it in an airtight container in the fridge until you’re uneasy about using it. Let it come to room temperature before spreading or dipping anything into it.

The lovely owner Robin and her fabulous mom hosted the most amazing event!  They even coined a new drink, the Dirty-Doll-Tini (recipe below).  While enjoying these delightful cocktails, guests were treated to bra fittings and samples of the delightful products from The Botanical Collection. The Dolls also launched their new line of bridal underpinnings at this event.  The guests could not wait to try on the lingerie. And once they’d been fit in their Dirty Dolls bras, they burst out of the dressing rooms to model!

How to make your very own Dirty-Doll-Tini:

Pour 2 parts Vodka to 1 part Creme de Cacao (white) into a cocktail shaker. Add ice cubes. Shake well. Rub rim of glass with orange peel and dip into dish of Cocoa Powder. Drop 3 chocolate chips in bottom of glass. Strain & pour contents of cocktail shaker into glass.   Next slip into your favorite piece from Dirty Dolls Lingerie, and enjoy!
