Dirty Dolls Invade the Upper West Side

Ahh, summer…love is in the air, and bridal season is upon us. The Dolls simply could not let this season pass without a celebration, so we threw a not-to-be-missed VIP shopping event for brides-to-be, bachelorettes, and other busty babes at New York City’s legendary Town Shop last Thursday. Celebratory champagne flowed throughout the evening, as guests received dazzling make-overs by the Glam Fairy and classic burlesque lessons from Jo Weldon, founder and headmistress of the NY School of Burlesque. For dessert, Harlem’s very own Sugar Momma brought in a beautiful wedding cake and mini-cupcakes in flavors such as pink champagne and red velvet. (And each treat was piled high with delectable whipped cream!) The ladies who attended the party were all given proper brassiere fittings by Town Shop’s experienced staff. These fit queens really know how it’s done–some of them are veterans who have worked at the store for over 25 years! Our Doll eyes teared up with pride as we watched our customers receive transformative Hollywood bombshell makeovers, then get down to doing serious bumping and grinding–all while wearing their new DD Lingerie!

A special thanks to Danny and the whole Town Shop staff, BUST magazine for supplying magazines, Raquel for her wonderful photography, and Mel for helping The Dolls bring it all together!

Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend 2009

Wow, The Dolls had quite a weekend! Our Vegas trip was full of burlesque, glitter, glamour, and even weddings! This was our first time as a vendor at the Burlesque Hall of Fame’s Miss Exotic World Show. Fortunately it wasn’t all work, us Dolls got to play too. After our first day of vending at the burlesque bazaar, we were treated to a show that wasn’t just fabulous, but also a part of history. The Friday night show was full of burlesque legends from years past. These performers truly dazzled and entertained us. Performances included go-go dancing by Viva LeFever, singing by Candy Caramelo, the magic of Dusty Summers, Satan’s Angel’s sauciness, and the adorable April March. These are just a handful of the legends who performed. Check out this link for a full listing http://www.burlesquehall.com. Some of the Reigning Queens of Burlesque also took to the stage. The line up included Immodesty Blaze, Catherine D’Lish, Dirty Martini and Michelle L’amour to name a few. Much to our surprise, Michelle L’amour’s act turned into a wedding right before our teary eyes. There sure was a lot of mascara running in the audience, as we all witnessed the couple’s beautiful love on the stage. What a great way to start our weekend!

Saturday night was the big competition, and of course we were blown away by all of the marvelous performers. The night was full of classic burlesque routines, rock inspired acts, and even aerial performances! The costumes were dazzling, and talent filled the venue. The beautiful Angie Pontani, the Reigning Queen of Burlesque 2008, and a recent Dirty Dolls model performed her farewell act. She exuded beauty, glamour and grace with her toe shoe performance. Congratulations to all the winners and performers. They all really rocked it!

Thank you to everyone at the Burlesque Hall of Fame for having us as a vendor! It was a weekend that The Dolls will not forget. We met so many fabulous people at our booth. We can’t wait to go back next year!
